David Summerhill is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Department of People and Organisations, Glasgow School for Business and Society, Glasgow Caledonian University. He joined GCU in 2019 and leads the HR Graduate Apprenticeship remit within the department. He is the module leader for MSc Leading Responsible Change and deputizes leadership for the school-wide postgraduate module Developing Leadership for the Common Good.
David’s teaching focuses on organisational change, culture, responsible leadership, and organisational development. He provides academic and professional advice to the Scottish Government on organisational change. Before academia, he held roles in generalist HRM, organisational change/development, and employee relations across public and private sectors.
David holds both undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications from Glasgow Caledonian University. His professional affiliations include Chartered Membership of the CIPD, Associate Membership of the CMI, and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
His advisory work extends to collaboration with governmental bodies, reflecting his expertise in applying theoretical frameworks to real-world organisational challenges.
