David Pellow

David Pellow serves as the Dehlsen Professor of Environmental Studies and Director of the Global Environmental Justice Project at UC Santa Barbara. He teaches courses on environmental justice, social movements, sustainability, and human-animal conflicts.

His research program includes directing student teams in developing regional Green New Deal proposals, analyzing fossil fuel development impacts, and examining environmental privilege dynamics. He maintains active community engagement through board memberships with organizations including Greenpeace USA and International Rivers.

Professor Pellow's work connects environmental conflict with social inequality, focusing on immigrant labor rights, occupational health, and waste management disparities affecting communities of color.
