David Mather

Mr David Mather is Associate Head (Students) and Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth, specifically within the School of Education, Languages and Linguistics of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He provides strategic leadership for student experience, recruitment, and teaching assessment.

His research focuses on:

• Military-to-civilian transition through education
• Educational experiences of service children
• AI applications in student services

Recent publications analyze neurodiversity in primary education, AI ethics in educational contexts, and teacher training for military personnel. He actively contributes to the Service Children’s Progression Alliance and leads the Military Teacher Education Pathway project.
