David King is the International Chair in Brass Band at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), holding the rank of Professor. He is a globally renowned figure in brass music as both an instrumentalist and conductor. His career includes ten European Brass Band Championship participations as a conductor, winning nine titles with bands like Black Dyke Mills and Yorkshire Building Society Band. He currently leads the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band, serves as associate director of Norway’s Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag, and founded Australia’s National Australia Brass Academy.
Education includes a Doctor of Musical Arts (University of Salford, 2000), studies in trumpet/cornet at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and music education at Avondale College. Awards highlight his excellence: International Brass Musician of the Year (1992), three-time North of England Solo Champion (1983-85), and British Open Solo Champion.
