David Hendry is a Professor of Natural Trumpet at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He studied at both the RNCM and the Royal College of Music (PGDipRCM) and has developed expertise in Baroque music, Early Brass, and Natural Trumpet performance since the 1990s.
His career spans extensive performance with period ensembles across Europe, North/South America, and Asia, including roles as Principal Trumpet with the Gabrielli Consort, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and Les Talens Lyriques. He also collaborates with modern ensembles like the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Royal Opera House’s orchestra.
Hendry teaches and examines at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College of Music, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Chetham’s School of Music. His discography includes recordings with major labels like Deutsche Gramophone, Decca, and Chandos, featuring works by composers from Bach to Mendelssohn.
