David Grott

David Grott is a Course Instructor in Jazz Trombone and Jazz Combo at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, Department of Music Performance. He has been a freelance trombonist and bass trombonist in Montreal since 1986, specializing in diverse genres including jazz, musical theatre, and studio recordings. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Jazz Composition and Arranging from St. Francis Xavier University (1986).

David has performed on hundreds of studio recordings with notable artists such as Cirque du Soleil, Celine Dion, and Christine Jenson, and leads the trombone section in big bands like Joe Sullivan’s, Christine Jenson’s, Vic Vogel’s, and Altsys Jazz Orchestra. His theatre credits include tours of Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun, and The King and I. He is an active educator and performer in Montreal’s music scene.
