Dave Folsom

Dave Folsom is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Goddard School of Business and Economics, Weber State University, joining in 2024. He previously held faculty roles at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and Lehigh University.

• Education: PhD in Business Administration (Accounting Major, Finance Minor) from the University of Iowa (2009), MA in Professional Accounting (2002), and BS in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude, 2001) from Brigham Young University.

Folsom specializes in empirical research on how financial accounting information, particularly characteristics mandated by US GAAP, influences the economic decisions of both financial statement preparers and users. His teaching spans financial accounting at various academic levels.

Teaching & Research Recognition: He has received multiple awards, including UTEP's Executive MBA Teaching Excellence Award (2023) and its Beta Alpha Psi & Accounting Society Teacher of the Year Award (2021–2022). At UTEP, he was honored for both teaching (2018) and research (2017) excellence. His mentorship led to a national competition win at Lehigh University (2013).
