Dr. Daphne Washington is an Associate Professor in the Division of Counseling at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). She transitioned to full-time faculty in July 2023 after serving as an adjunct since 2019. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota (2008), an M.S. in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University (1997), and a B.A. from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1995).
Her research and professional interests focus on integrating Christian faith with clinical practice, promoting multicultural competence, and advancing self-coaching and wellness initiatives. Dr. Washington holds multiple certifications, including Licensed Professional Counselor (Arizona), Licensed Psychologist (Maryland), and National Certified Counselor. She is an approved clinical supervisor for graduate counselors and actively contributes to professional organizations like the American Association of Christian Counselors and Chi Sigma Iota.
With over 15 years of experience in counseling education, she has worked in diverse settings, including crisis hotlines, university counseling centers, and private practice via telehealth. Her published work includes the poetry collection A Christian’s Book of Haiku.
