Dr. Daniel C. Rosen is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Counseling and Health Psychology at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. He holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University, an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, with a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School.
His research focuses on dismantling racial/cultural bias and health inequities through culturally responsive interventions. Key areas include multicultural psychology, social justice in mental health, American Jewish identity, and disability experiences. Current projects aim to develop clinical workshops to improve culturally competent care.
Dr. Rosen founded the non-profit AWARE (2000) and co-directed the Daniel K. Church Center for Social Justice & Diversity at Bastyr (2014–2020). His work has been recognized with the William A. Mitchell Jr. Service Merit Award. He is actively involved with professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.
Notable publications include co-editing Eliminating Race-Based Mental Health Disparities (2019) and pioneering studies on antisemitism-related stress (2018), cultural assessment in mental health (2017), and technology’s role in therapeutic alliance (2016).
