Dan Workman

Dan Workman serves as Associate Professor of Theatre and chair of the Theatre Department at Augustana University, bringing decades of professional experience as a director and actor across academic, touring, and not-for-profit theatre sectors.

His academic credentials include:

• MFA in Theatre Direction from the University of South Dakota
• BFA in Theatre Performance from Tarkio College

Professor Workman's professional practice centers on theatre direction, acting, and script analysis, with specialized focus on educational and community engagement through youth programs. His dual leadership roles bridge academic instruction with real-world production demands, particularly in seasonal and touring theatre contexts where he oversees casting, artistic direction, and national artist collaborations.

He directs the Black Hills Playhouse—the premier regional summer stock theatre operating in Custer State Park—and co-founded Dakota Players, a touring company delivering K-8 theatre education to approximately 40 regional locations annually.
