Damon R. Leichty

Hon. Damon R. Leichty is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School since 2017 and serves as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Indiana since 2019. He teaches product liability and federal practice, reflecting his expertise gained from over 30 years of trial work across federal and state jurisdictions.

Education: J.D. cum laude from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, M.Litt. from University of Aberdeen (Scotland), and A.B. summa cum laude from Wabash College. Professional affiliations include the American Law Institute and Order of the Barristers.

Research interests focus on litigation strategies, federal court procedures, and legal education. Community service includes leadership roles at the Ronald A.
