Craig Ruaux is an Associate Professor at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney. He holds a BVSc (Hons I) from the University of Queensland and a PhD from the same institution. His career includes postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University’s Gastrointestinal Laboratory and a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at Oregon State University. He is a registered specialist in small animal internal medicine (DACVIM).
His research focuses on gastrointestinal diseases, particularly chronic enteropathies in companion animals, proteomics, parasitology, and diagnostic biomarkers. He has led studies on serum proteome profiling in dogs and cats with chronic enteropathy, as well as investigations into protozoal infections in zoo chimpanzees using molecular techniques.
Ruaux has secured grants including the 2024 European Society of Comparative Gastroenterology/ESCG-Purina Institute Trainee Research Grant for biomarker studies and the 2022 Sydney School of Veterinary Science Start-up Fund. His work emphasizes translational research bridging diagnostic innovations and clinical applications.
Awarded DACVIM (SAIM), Ruaux has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles. His clinical expertise spans gastroenterology, endocrinology, and emergency medicine, with a focus on improving diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for small animals. He collaborates on studies involving imaging techniques, immunological markers, and species-specific disease management.
