About
Dr Costanza Rodda is an Assistant Professor in Fluid Mechanics at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College London. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cottbus-Senftenberg (2019) and completed postdoctoral research at the LEGI laboratory in Grenoble and as a research associate at Imperial College (2021). Her research focuses on stratified turbulence, geophysical flows, and energy optimization in buildings, combining experimental and computational methods. She leads the DStratify research group and is part of the Simons collaboration team.
- Education: B.E. and M.S. in Physics (University of Trieste), PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2019)
Her research interests include fluid dynamics applications in climate modeling, internal wave dynamics, and building sustainability. She develops data assimilation methods to improve energy efficiency in buildings. Key themes include gravity waves in oceans/atmospheres, unresolved dynamics in climate models, and stratified rotating flows. She also explores the impact of polar warming and extreme climate events through laboratory experiments.
Her work bridges geophysical fluid dynamics with engineering solutions, aiming to address climate uncertainties and optimize energy systems. She currently oversees a PhD project on fluid mechanics in built environments and maintains active collaborations across multiple institutions.
