About
Godeferd Fabien is a CNRS Researcher and former Head of the Turbulence and Instabilities team (2006-2015) at the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics (UMR 5509) in Lyon, France. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, with emphasis on rotating and stratified turbulence, inertial wave dynamics, and geophysical fluid dynamics. He leads the Henri Bénard Center, an ERCOFTAC pilot center for fluid dynamics research.
Research Interests: His work explores turbulent energy partitioning between waves and eddies in rotating systems, inertial wave focusing, and multiscale modeling of biological and geophysical flows. Recent studies include shock-like inertial wave focusing and vascular remodeling simulations under turbulent conditions.
Publications: Recent work highlights inertial wave dynamics in rotating fluids, wave-eddy interactions in stratified turbulence, and computational models of intimal hyperplasia. These studies bridge fundamental fluid mechanics with applications in biomedical engineering and geophysics.
Leadership: As team leader and center director, he coordinates large-scale numerical simulations and experimental facilities at LMFA, including high-performance computing resources and advanced flow measurement techniques (PIV, LDV, etc.).
Labs & Teams: Active within the Turbulence & Instabilities team, collaborating with interdisciplinary groups on biofluid dynamics and plasma turbulence. Supports the lab’s partnerships with industries and academic institutions for applied research.
