Cooper Drury serves as the Dean of the College of Arts and Science and a Professor in the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri. As Dean, he leads initiatives to enhance student success through innovative programs like the BS in Data Science and BA in Health Humanities. Under his leadership, the college has established high-impact research centers including the MU Materials Science & Engineering Institute and the Center for Energy Innovation.
Dr. Drury holds a PhD in Political Science from Arizona State University (1997), an MA in International Relations (1992), and a BA in Political Science (1990), both from Michigan State University. His research focuses on foreign policy, particularly the consequences of economic sanctions on democracy, human rights, and global governance.
His scholarly contributions include three books and numerous articles in journals like International Studies Quarterly and Journal of Conflict Resolution. Awards include the Foreign Policy Analysis Distinguished Scholar Award and the Gold Chalk Award for mentorship. He has mentored 25 doctoral students and held editorial and leadership roles in professional organizations.
