Constance Cook serves as Teaching Professor of Music and Chair of the Music in General Studies program at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. She holds undergraduate degrees in piano performance and history from Nebraska Wesleyan University and graduate degrees in musicology, piano, and theory from Indiana University.

Cook's research focuses on the intersection of music with social change, peacebuilding, and American cultural identity. She has developed courses on Leonard Bernstein, the American Musical, Music of War and Peace, and Musical Creativity in Diverse Cultures. Her work explores Bernstein's legacy as an artist-citizen, the politics of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Gershwin's role in race and the American musical identity.
She has received several awards including the 2017 Outstanding Faculty Member award from Kappa Alpha Theta, the 2015 Honorary Faculty Member award from Tau Beta Sigma, the 2011 Commission on Multicultural Understanding Faculty Award, and the 2004 Blue Ribbon Award for Outstanding Instructors.
Cook is committed to impactful teaching and service. She co-created the international summits "Music, Business and Peace" with Tim Fort and co-edited the book "Music, Business and Peacebuilding". She has held leadership roles in the College Music Society and founded summer music programs. Additionally, she has secured grants such as the ArtsWeek grants (2009, 2010) and an Active Learning Grant (2008).
She actively promotes diversity and inclusion through initiatives like the Jacobs School of Music Community Conversations and has volunteered with local organizations including the Quarryland Men's Chorus and the IU Children’s Choir.
