Colin B. Selleck is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Binghamton University, where he has taught since 2006. His roles include instructing Senior Capstone Design, Robotics, Measurements and Instrumentation, and Dynamics. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University (1978 and 1980, respectively).
Professionally, Selleck spent 19 years at Sandia National Laboratories, contributing to pioneering projects such as early computer graphics interfaces for finite element analysis visualization on Cray supercomputers, robotics-based radiation inspection systems for nuclear waste containers, and 3D geometry sensors using structured light techniques. His work emphasized computer vision algorithms and safe robot motion planning in hazardous environments.
After leaving Sandia in 1997, he consulted with the University of New Mexico's Manufacturing Engineering robotics lab, focusing on coordinated robot motion, grasp planning, and mobile navigation. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma engineering honorary societies.
