Meng-Sang Chew

Meng-Sang Chew is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics at Lehigh University's College of Engineering. His research focuses on advanced machinery, robotics, and control systems.

• Education: Ph.D., M.Ph., M.S., and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University

His research interests span conceptual design of mechanisms, including novel car engines, deployable space structures, robotics, and AI applications in mechanical systems. He specializes in neural networks, learning control, and adaptive control methodologies.

Chew is a member of ASME, Pi Tau Sigma, and Tau Beta Pi, and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He has received multiple awards including Boeing's A.D. Welliver Fellowship, AIAA's Aerospace Design Engineering Award, and ASME's Best Paper and Curriculum Innovation awards. He holds four NASA Certificates of Recognition and five U.S. patents, and is registered as a professional engineer in Virginia.
