Dr. Christina Bertran is an Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the OT Programs at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, Miami campus, within the College of Rehabilitative Sciences. She holds a Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Boston University, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Florida International University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida.
Her research focuses on innovative approaches in pediatric occupational therapy, including:
- Inclusion of siblings in ASD therapeutic processes
- Parent education for families with ASD children
- Occupational therapy's role in secondary transition planning
- Interdisciplinary collaboration for pre-linguistic skill development
Dr. Bertran maintains clinical practice in home health settings using interdisciplinary models and holds Board Certification in Pediatrics and Certified Autism Specialist credentials. She joined the university full-time in 2020 and was promoted to her current role in December 2023.
