Christian Hunold is Professor of Politics and Associate Dean for Faculty Advancement at Drexel University's College of Arts and Sciences. He holds appointments in the Department of Politics, Center for Science, Technology and Society, and Center for Public Policy.
His education includes a PhD in Political Science from University of Pittsburgh (1998), MA in Political Science from University of Pittsburgh (1993), and undergraduate studies in Political Science at University of Bonn (1987-1990).
Research interests focus on environmental political theory and human-animal studies, with particular emphasis on multispecies justice in urban environments and wild horse conservation in the American West. His work employs multispecies ethnography to investigate political decision-making that includes nonhuman animals.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on human-wildlife coexistence, with recent work examining social media representations of urban wildlife and climate adaptation challenges for free-roaming species.
Awards include:
- Best Paper in Environmental Political Theory, Western Political Science Association (2018)
Maintains active collaborations including ongoing research with Jennifer Britton on wild horse and burro conservation. Mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers with several co-authored publications.
