Chris Jones

Chris Jones is a musician and educator affiliated with the University of Regina, where he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Music under the School of Music. Prior to joining the European Space Organization (ESO) in 2023 as Principal Bassist, he held prominent roles in Canadian orchestras, including five seasons with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Players.

• Education: Undergraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music (New York City), with tours across Canada and Europe via the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
• Performance Highlights: Canadian premiere of Missy Mazzoli’s Dark with Excessive Bright (2019), soloist appearances at Regina Musical Club and Regina Public Library.

His research and professional interests span Music Performance (Double Bass, Orchestral, and Chamber Music) and genre experimentation in Jazz, Funk, and Bluegrass. As a three-time Theodore H. Barth Foundation Scholarship recipient and Homer Mensch Award honoree, he has demonstrated excellence in double bass performance and education.

• Teaching: Shaped the musical journeys of younger generations at the University of Regina.
• Additional Activities: Tours with Regina Symphony Chamber Players, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra.
