Cheryl Briggs is a Professor of Animation, Level Design, and Motion Capture Engineering at the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) within the Nicholson School of Communication and Media at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She joined UCF in 2009 as founding faculty for Character Animation and served as Area Coordinator (2014-2022) and Program Director for Animation and Visual Effects (2016-2022). Prior to UCF, she was a Professor of Animation and Motion Capture Engineer at the Savannah College of Art and Design (2001-2009).

- Autodesk Certified Professional and Instructor in Maya since 2005
Her research focuses on motion capture applications in animation and visual effects, with an emphasis on bridging academic training with industry needs. She has developed graduate-level courses integrating motion capture technology for film and game production.
Cheryl actively contributes to professional organizations including the Animation Hall of Fame, ACM-SIGGRAPH Education Committee, Visual Effects Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, Women in Animation, and Society for Animation Studies. Her students have achieved international recognition at animation festivals and secured positions in major entertainment industries.
