Catherine Risling serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Communications Department within the College of Arts & Humanities at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). With over 15 years of professional journalism experience spanning newspapers, books, magazines, and digital platforms, she has dedicated the past two decades to teaching aspiring journalists and communications students at CSUDH.

Her educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fullerton. Professor Risling's expertise centers on practical journalism applications, with specialized knowledge in media law, newswriting techniques, news gathering methodologies, feature writing, and digital media production. She complements this with significant industry experience in public relations consulting and book editing—having edited over 60 publications for Sterling Publishing—and authored the cultural history work 'From Predators to Pets.'
