Carsten Neumann is a Lecturer in Orchestra Training (Violin) at the Strings Department of the Mozarteum University, located within the School of Music & Art Education (SOMA). He began his violin studies with Ludwig Ellegiers and Igor Ozim, later joining Helmut Zehetmair's class at the Mozarteum University in 1986. He furthered his studies under Ruggiero Ricci and participated in masterclasses with Waleri Klimov, Ivry Gitlis, and Dénes Zsigmondy. As a musician, Neumann has been a soloist and chamber musician, notably as a member of the Mozarteum Piano Trio, which recorded a disc in 1990 and toured Japan, England, and Italy. Since 1998, he has served as 1st principal of the Mozarteum Orchestra. He also played with the Camerata Salzburg under Sandor Vegh and Roger Norrington from 1993 to 1998.
