Ruth Burman

Ruth Burman is an adjunct lecturer in dance at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, affiliated with the Department of Elemental Music & Dance Education – Orff Institute and the Institute for Open Arts. She teaches modern dance, children's dance, and dance pedagogy, with a focus on choreography and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Education:

• Music and dance education (focus on dance) at Mozarteum University
• Advanced training in choreography, modern dance, and dance pedagogy at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) (1993–1995)

Research & Artistic Work: Her choreographic practice emphasizes collaboration with visual artists, composers, and musicians, including Frey Faust, Donna Jewell, and Susan Quinn. Projects span Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Taiwan. She integrates movement studies, dance education, and interdisciplinary performance.

Teaching & Outreach: Taught at SEAD, music secondary schools in Upper Austria and Pongau, and led Orff teacher training programs in Austria and Taiwan. Active at the Thomas Bernhard Institute (1999–2008).

Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Orff Institute and Institute for Open Arts, focusing on innovative dance education and cross-cultural artistic exchange.
