Bryan Sargent

Bryan 'Rick' Sargent is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Fine Arts & Communications at The Citadel's School of Humanities & Social Sciences. With over 20 years of experience as a medical illustrator and animator, he brings unique expertise in visual communication to his teaching.

• M.S. in Medical Illustration from Medical College of Georgia
• B.A. in Art from University of Georgia

His research interests focus on the intersection of art and science communication, particularly through:

• Medical illustration techniques
• Digital animation for educational purposes
• Visual storytelling in academic contexts

Sargent has received notable recognition for his artistic contributions, including:

• Award of Merit from the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
• Best in Drawing award at North Charleston Arts Fest
• Cooper River Bridge Run competition design award

Previously teaching at The Art Institute of Charleston, he now contributes to cadet art exhibitions and research-art integration projects at The Citadel, while maintaining his professional company Sargent Illustration and Design.
