Kevin Martin Free

Kevin Martin Free serves as a Visiting Instructor in the Department of English, Fine Arts & Communications at The Citadel's School of Humanities & Social Sciences, where he teaches digital media courses to cadets and graduate students.

His academic credentials include:

• M.F.A. in Photography from Savannah College of Art & Design (2014)
• B.F.A. in Photography from Watkins College of Art
• A.A. in Commercial Photography from Ohio Institute of Photography

Mr. Free's scholarly work centers on photographic exploration of identity through his concept of the "expanded portrait" - a methodology examining multiple photographic details that collectively form a comprehensive representation of subjects. His current creative practice continues this identity exploration while expanding into documentary work focused on the natural world. With more than 25 years of professional experience across commercial photography, wedding/portrait photography, documentary work, photographic lab specialization, and fine art, he brings substantial industry expertise to his academic role.

As an instructor at The Citadel, Mr. Free contributes to the development of students' visual communication skills through hands-on digital media instruction, connecting theoretical concepts with practical applications drawn from his extensive professional background.
