Bryan Menk

Dr. Bryan Menk is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business, Duquesne University. He holds a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.B.A. and B.A. from James Madison University. A licensed CPA in Virginia, his career spans Big 4 firms (PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Arthur Andersen) and tax roles at McGuireWoods Law Firm. His research focuses on behavioral taxation, CPA exam success factors, and ethical decision-making in accounting. He has been recognized with multiple awards including the Kurt Rethswich Teacher of the Year Award and Eugene P. Beard Research Fellowship. His teaching covers taxation, financial accounting, and graduate-level accounting courses.

Dr. Menk’s research explores intersections between tax law, ethical behavior, and educational outcomes. Notable studies include analyses of CPA exam success linked to graduate education and accounting program characteristics, as well as investigations into taxpayer compliance and whistleblowing intentions. His work appears in journals like the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting and CPA Journal.

He has received grants supporting research on ethics in taxation and educational program effectiveness. Prior to Duquesne, he served as a visiting professor at Virginia State University and adjunct faculty at Old Dominion University. His professional experience informs his teaching and research on real-world accounting challenges.
