About
Dr. Brian Pratt is a Professor in Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Arts and Science. His research examines depositional environments of shallow-marine carbonates, ancient epeiric seas, and evidence of paleoseismic activity in sedimentary records. He specializes in Cambro-Ordovician fossils, carbonate mud-mounds, and seismite analysis.
Current projects include sedimentology of Proterozoic platforms and laboratory simulations of earthquake-induced deformation. Dr. Pratt has received the W.W. Hutchinson Medal for exceptional contributions to Canadian geology. He mentors graduate students in paleoecology and sedimentology and has held editorial positions for major geological journals.
Fieldwork focuses on Rocky Mountain outcrops and Arctic Canada, with international collaborations in Argentina. Dr. Pratt's research reconstructs ancient marine environments using integrated sedimentological and paleontological approaches.
