Brian Jantz is a full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music. He combines his roles as a clinician, practicum supervisor, course instructor, and researcher, with over 25 years of experience in pediatric medical and psychiatric/substance abuse settings. Jantz also contributes to clinical work, research, and program development at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he has been active for over two decades.

Research Interests
Jantz’s work focuses on applying music therapy to improve neurodevelopmental and psychosocial outcomes for children during hospitalization, particularly in pediatric medical and psychiatric contexts. He explores how music therapy supports trauma-informed care, pain management, and emotional expression, aligning with Berklee’s mission to advance clinical applications of music.
Leadership & Advocacy
He has held leadership positions such as Assembly Speaker for the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and President of the New England Region of AMTA. Jantz also serves on AMTA’s Internship Approval Committee and has taught master classes at Berklee Abu Dhabi and the International Association for Music and Medicine (IAMM) conference.
