Brendon de Raad

Dr. Brendon de Raad is a Lecturer at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, where he has been affiliated since 2011. He teaches energy technology within the Mechanical Engineering program at the School of Engineering.

His research focuses on industrial decarbonization through innovative heat management solutions.

• Specializes in cost-effective reuse of residual heat via heat pumps
• Investigates how rising fossil fuel costs make heat pumps increasingly viable for CO2 reduction
• Examines optimal heat pump solutions in evolving energy transition contexts
• Addresses the challenge that 25% of Netherlands' greenhouse gas emissions come from industry

Dr. de Raad received the Researcher of the Year 2019 award in the Election of Teacher-Researchers of the Year. His work is associated with CoE HRTech, where he leads projects including Heat pumps in industry and The Heat is on.

With a background in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in sustainable energy technology from TU Delft (2017), he balances teaching responsibilities with research that addresses critical climate challenges facing industrial sectors.
