About
Chengtian Cui is a Research Fellow at the Delft University of Technology, affiliated with the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Department of Chemical Engineering. He is engaged in the REMAP2 project, a collaborative initiative with TNO, Ecomatters, CB&I/McDermott, SWERIM, and Sulzer.
His research focuses on Process Systems Engineering (PSE), particularly on modeling and optimizing energy-efficient methanol production processes. The REMAP2 project aims to develop a 100% electrically driven methanol production process using a closed-loop heat pump assisted distillation system (cl-HPAD), achieving significant energy consumption reductions (80% compared to reference processes and 25% compared to other heat pump technologies). His work involves process simulation with Aspen Plus and techno-economic evaluations incorporating sustainability metrics like material, energy, and water intensity.
This project aligns with broader efforts in sustainable chemical engineering, energy systems optimization, and industrial decarbonization. Key collaborations emphasize cross-institutional innovation in green technology development.
