Bogdan Bucur

Bogdan Bucur is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Political Science, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Bucharest, Romania. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Bucharest (2012) and combines legal and historical training, having earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Bucharest and a Master’s in History of Ideas and Mentalities from the same institution.

• Research Focus: History of Romanian sociology (particularly the Bucharest Sociological School), historical sociology of Romania’s modernization (18th-20th centuries), and historical social network analysis.
• Teaching: Offers courses like Fundamental Concepts in Sociology, The World of Yesterday: A Social Fresco of Greater Romania, and Juridical Sociology.

Key Publications: His 2019 monograph Sociology of Bad Governance in Interwar Romania won the Dimitrie Gusti Award from the Romanian Academy. Earlier works include Wallachian Anomie (1716-1828) (2008) and Jean Pangal, Unpublished Documents (2016), which earned the Gheorghe Brătianu Award.
