Blaine A. Jacobs, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM), joining the faculty in June 2018. She earned her doctorate in Pharmacology from UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, supported by the Craniofacial Oral-Biology Fellowship and Council for Excellence in Women's Health Scholarship.
Her research examines opioid receptor mechanisms for pain management, migraine pathology, and socioeconomic disparities in healthcare. Current projects investigate pain management inequities in San Antonio and osteopathic interventions for underserved populations. She mentors student-led research on ZIP code-based health disparities and maternal-fetal outcomes.
Awards recognize her graduate research on peripheral analgesic targets. Postdoctoral work at UT Dallas involved migraine studies and pharmaceutical compound screening.
