About
Biplab Datta, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia, Department of Population Health Sciences, with a joint appointment at the Hull College of Business. He holds a PhD in Economics from Georgia State University (2017). His research bridges public health and economics, focusing on socioeconomic determinants of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), healthcare financing, and health disparities. Prior to his academic role, he served as a Prevention Effectiveness Fellow at the U.S. CDC.
Dr. Datta’s work investigates how NCD treatment costs impact household economics, poverty, and policy inequities. Key interests include child marriage’s long-term health effects, psychosocial factors in hypertension, and disparities in healthcare access. His research aims to inform interventions for NCD prevention and resilient health systems.
Selected publications (2022–2025) address topics like child marriage’s cardiovascular risks, socioeconomic impacts of NCDs, and financial hardship among cancer survivors. His Google Scholar articles (2023–2025) expand into long-COVID outcomes, rural-urban vaccination disparities, and psychosocial wellbeing.
Teaching areas are under development, though his expertise in health economics and policy is evident through his collaborative work with institutions like the CDC and Augusta’s Institute of Public and Preventive Health.
