Ben Wilson

Ben Wilson is an Associate Professor of Landscape Processes and Associate Head (Natural & Applied Sciences) at Charles Sturt University (CSU). He holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD from UNSW, specializing in environmental impacts of acid sulfate soils. His roles include former Head of the School of Environmental Sciences and School of Agricultural and Wine Sciences at CSU. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and former Chair of the American Soil Quality Working Group.

Education: PhD in Environmental Sciences (UNSW, 1996), BSc (Hons) in Geography. His research focuses on soil science, geoscience, climatology, flood dynamics in African cities, wetland microbial systems, farmer soil knowledge, localization metrics, and education collaboration. Key projects include work on Ghanaian flood management, Bhutanese sustainability indices, and global-localization frameworks.

Research Trends: Recent work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches combining environmental science with socio-economic factors, particularly in developing localized sustainability metrics and analyzing flood impacts in urban areas. His studies often bridge academic theory with practical applications in agriculture and policy.
