Jason Howarth

Dr. Jason Howarth is a Senior Lecturer in Computing at Charles Sturt University (CSU), where he has taught since 2003. He holds a PhD and BInfoTech (Hons) from CSU, graduating with the University Medal. His roles have included Course Director, Associate Head of School, and Sub Dean of Transform Online Learning in the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences. He is actively involved in research within the Data Science and Engineering Research Unit.

Research interests focus on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), consumer goals in education, cybersecurity workforce development, and health analytics. Recent publications highlight trends in MOOCs as pathways to higher education, cybersecurity program analysis, and inclusive language in cybersecurity discourse. Awards include the 2024 Excellence Award for Digital Health research and a 2023 Charles Sturt Excellence Award.

Grants and collaborations include $756k for cybersecurity workforce development and health analytics partnerships. His work spans educational technology, policy, and interdisciplinary research.
