Ben Balzer

Dr Ben Balzer is a paediatrician and clinical researcher at the School of Women's and Children's Health, University of New South Wales (UNSW). His work focuses on child protection and the intersection of clinical practice with evidence-based research to address critical healthcare challenges in paediatrics.

Dr Balzer's research prioritizes understanding the health needs of vulnerable populations, particularly adolescent survivors of sexual assault, and advancing diagnostic and systemic responses in tertiary child protection units. His projects include studying strangulation in child sexual assault, drug- and technology-facilitated assault, and fabricated/induced illness (FII).
