Dr. Shanti Raman is a Clinical Professor and Consultant Paediatrician at UNSW Sydney, affiliated with the School of Public Health and Community Medicine. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the same institution. Her roles include leading Child Protection services in Sydney South West Area Health Service, clinical leadership in child abuse and neglect, and policy development at national and international levels. She specializes in migrant/refugee health, international maternal/child health, child rights, and poverty-related health issues.
Dr. Raman has extensive experience in international health consultancy, population-based research in India, and clinical service development for vulnerable populations. She leads the Maternal Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) portfolio in the Human Resources for Health Knowledge Hub. Her research focuses on child health policy, clinical audits, and quality improvement projects within NSW Health. She has supervised numerous research projects by junior doctors, paediatric trainees, and MPH students.
Her work spans policy development with organizations like the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the International Society for Social Pediatrics. She maintains strong collaborations in global health initiatives, particularly in maternal, neonatal, and child health equity.
