Barry L. Shoop serves as Dean of the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at The Cooper Union in New York City since January 2019. He holds a dual role as Professor of Electrical Engineering. Prior to this, he retired as a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army after a 39-year career, including leadership roles at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, such as Director of the Photonics Research Center and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
