Dr. Barry Hartz is Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Florida School of Music. He teaches undergraduate courses in Instrumental Literature, Arranging, Methods, and Music Technology, plus graduate courses in Instructional Design, Sociology of Music Education, and Research Methods. He earned his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University and holds National Board Certification.
His research focuses on:
- Innovative approaches to music literacy
- Ensemble performance enhancement
- Technology integration in music education
Dr. Hartz received the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence and was named Ohio Music Education Association's Outstanding Music Educator in 2013. As an active clinician and adjudicator, he works with secondary school bands across the southeastern United States and has conducted honor bands in Ohio and Kentucky.
