Patrick Schwan is a Lecturer and Trumpet Instructor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Minot State University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music Education from Minot State University. Schwan retired in May 2021 as Director of Bands at Minot High School after teaching at multiple schools including Erik Ramstad Middle School, Memorial Middle School, Granville Public School, and Butte Public School.
Active in performance, Schwan serves as Principal Trumpet of the Minot Symphony Orchestra and participates in community ensembles like the Minot Community Concert Band, Brass Band of Minot, and Dakota Dixie. He also directs and performs with the Swing Band of Minot.
Schwan has received significant recognition throughout his career, including Who's Who Among America's Teachers, the Golden Apple Award, and multiple National Band Association honors. He is frequently sought after as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician in North Dakota.
