Dr. Arsenio Rodrigues serves as Director of the School of the Built Environment and Professor at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). He holds a PhD in Architecture from Texas A&M University (2008), with prior degrees from Texas A&M and Goa University, India. His research focuses on sacred place-making, sustainable design, and design pedagogy, emphasizing health and well-being in built environments. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including work on straw bale construction and archetypal principles in sacred spaces.
Recipient of over 40 awards, Dr. Rodrigues has been honored as 2022 AIA Toledo 'Architect of the Year', a Japan Studies Institute Fellow (2017), and a 2024 Israel Faculty Fellow. He actively serves on the AIA Ohio Board and Foundation, and previously led architectural programs at Prairie View A&M University (an HBCU). His professional certifications include LEED AP, EDAC, and NCARB registration in the U.S. and India.
Teaching excellence includes 20+ student competition awards at regional/national levels. His service includes roles on Ohio’s Percent for Art Commission and the P.J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. Recent international collaborations include place-making research in Israel and Japan.
