Araida Hidalgo-Bastida

Dr Araida Hidalgo-Bastida is a Senior Lecturer in Regenerative Medicine, International Lead for Life Sciences, and Programme Leader for the MBiomedSci (Hons) at Manchester Metropolitan University. She oversees teaching and research in biomedical disciplines, with a focus on inclusive pedagogy and international collaboration.

Her research explores musculoskeletal and cardiovascular tissue engineering, drug delivery systems, and biomaterials for diabetes and antimicrobial applications. Scientific accolades include the Santander Scholar award (2021), Medal “Amalia Solorzano de Cardenas” (2020), and fellowships from the Higher Education Academy and the Institute of Biomedical Science. She actively participates in grant panels, peer review, and outreach initiatives, including organizing conferences and serving as a STEM Ambassador.
