Anthony Weikel

Anthony Weikel serves as a Part-Time Lecturer in Low Brass within the Department of Performing Arts at Ohio Wesleyan University, while concurrently holding adjunct positions at Capital University, Otterbein University, and Cedarville University.

His educational foundation includes:

• Bachelor of Music in Music Education from SUNY College at Fredonia
• Master of Music in Trombone Performance from Duquesne University
• Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone from The Ohio State University

Weikel maintains an active dual career as both educator and performer. His research and teaching interests center on trombone performance techniques, brass pedagogy methodologies, and chamber music interpretation. As second trombone with the Springfield Symphony and principal trombone with the Westerville Symphony, he brings current professional experience directly into the studio.

Students benefit from his extensive orchestral background spanning over 15 professional ensembles including the Pittsburgh Opera and Louisville Orchestra. His chamber music work with the Columbus BrassWorks Brass Quintet and Ohio Trombone Quartet provides additional pedagogical dimensions through national festival performances and educational outreach.

Professor Weikel mentors through both university appointments and a private Columbus-area studio serving K-12 students. His teaching approach integrates performance practice with technical development, emphasizing real-world application of skills for aspiring professional musicians.
