Annette Markham

Professor Annette Markham is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University's School of Media & Communication. She holds an ORCID ID: 0000-0001-8152-2473 and can be contacted at annette.markham@rmit.edu.au. Her research focuses on Sociology, Communication and Media Studies, Applied Ethics, and Data Science. She has supervised projects including The Summit (2022–2023), Mobile Media and the Urban Environment (2020), and Caring In and Through Our Practices (2020).

Her recent work explores digital sociality, algorithmic governance, and urban futures. Key themes include mood mapping in urban spaces, critical pedagogy in datafied societies, and pandemic-era autoethnography. She has contributed to commissioned reports on digital CBD infrastructure and future cities. Her publications span journals like New Media & Society and Qualitative Inquiry, as well as edited volumes on autoethnography and cultural studies.
