Dr. Angharad Butler-Rees is an Assistant Professor in Inclusive Education at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on inclusive education systems, disability advocacy, and the socio-economic challenges faced by disabled youth. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton (2020) and a BA from Durham University (2016).
Her work bridges academia and community action, with projects addressing educational transitions for disabled young people and the intersectional impacts of disability and social class. Key affiliations include membership in the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Advisory Board for OCR and the Vision Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research (VICTAR). She currently coordinates the MPhil Part-time Research Methods Strand and teaches across PGCE programs.
Recent research includes a British Academy-funded study on media engagement for wellbeing in the sight-loss community (2024–2025) and a longitudinal analysis of disability and socio-economic outcomes (2022–2024). Her publications explore themes such as resistance in disability activism, qualitative research methodologies, and the lived experiences of disabled scholars in academia.
