Kate Rigby is a Teaching Associate in the Primary PGCE program at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education. Her roles include tutoring on the Primary PGCE, supervising the Primary Education MPhil/MEd, and leading humanities teaching for primary trainees. She is a Section One assessor for the PGCE and external examiner for Roehampton University’s BA Education course, alongside her role as associate editor of JoTTER. Her research focuses on neurodiversity, inclusive education, and the experiences of neurodivergent teacher trainees. She serves on the Faculty’s EDI committee and Inclusive Spaces working group.
Qualifications include an MA in Mathematics Education (Distinction) from the University of Northampton, a PGCE in Primary Education, and a BA(Hons) in History from Warwick University. Professional memberships span the Chartered College of Teaching, Historical Association, and Geography Association, where she also serves on the editorial board for Primary History journal.
Her teaching expertise spans primary humanities and mathematics, drawing from her prior roles as a classroom teacher, Primary Mathematics specialist, and Strategic Lead for Teaching and Learning in a large primary school. She currently co-opted as a governor for a partnership school and provides small-group tutoring. Research interests include disability in education, beginning teachers’ experiences, and curriculum development in primary humanities.
