Dr. Andy Kaladelfos (They/Them) is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the School of Law, Society and Criminology, University of New South Wales (UNSW). They specialize in sexual and gender-based violence, queer criminology, immigration regulation, and homophobic/transphobic violence. Andy holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (2010) and a BA (Hons) from the same institution (2003).
Research interests include historical criminology, legal history, and the intersection of law and society. Andy leads projects such as the Australian Violence: Understanding Victimisation in History (ARCDP, 2020–2025) and Responding to Sexual Harm (ARCDP, 2024–2027). They co-created The Prosecution Project, a digital archive of Australian criminal trials, and co-lead the Gendered Violence Research Network and the EDI-focused Community of Practice in Inclusive Research with Queer, Trans, and Intersex People.
Andy has published extensively on topics including colonial legal systems, racialized violence, and LGBTQ+ experiences within the criminal justice system. Their work integrates historical, legal, and feminist methodologies to analyze systemic injustices.
Andy is involved in equity initiatives at UNSW, serving as Gender Equity co-Champion (2021–2023) and contributing to EDI boards since 2018. They advocate for participatory action initiatives to support system-impacted students and colleagues.
