Andy Henry

Dr Andy Henry is a Lecturer in Drama and Performance at Queen Margaret University's Media Communication and Performing Arts Division. He holds a PhD in Theatre Studies (University of Glasgow, 2018), MA in Theatre Practice (Aberystwyth University), and BA in Drama and Theatre Arts (Queen Margaret University). His research focuses on performance archives, site-specific theatre, and pedagogical innovation in higher education. He collaborates with institutions like Festival Theatre, Traverse Theatre, and Scottish Dance Theatre, and co-leads the Glasgow Green performance project with Victoria Bianchi.

Teaching emphases include theatre history, theory, and practice, with specialist modules on archives and site-specific performance. He co-created the MA in Applied Arts and Social Practice and supervises postgraduate research. Awards include QMU's Researcher of the Month (2020), and multiple teaching nominations. Professional roles include Birds of Paradise Theatre Company board member, external examiner at Wrexham University, and EIS Union branch convener at QMU.

Research highlights include archival projects for Traverse Theatre’s 60th anniversary and Scottish Dance Theatre’s 40th anniversary. Pedagogical work explores intersections between creative practice and teaching innovation. Freelance experience includes collaborations with Back to Back Theatre and Lung Ha's.
